I am choosing Huey Newton and the Black Panthers. I think the Black Panthers are a good group for this re-evaluation because they are misrepresented and barely taught about in school. The Black Panthers have the sole representation of being a violent militant group which is inaccurate. This judgement undermines their actual goals and positive efforts for civil rights. Weapons and military type of organization were the image of their group and most pictures and images of the black panthers show them as an angry mob with weapons but the explanation of their choice for these methods are lost or ignored.
